On Friday, November 7, my brother and I jumped into this exciting game. Tony Busofsky hosted an excellent game of Carnage and Glory set during the Battle of Leipzig, 1813.

Being huge fans of the Duchy of Warsaw, Alastair and I decided to play as the Franco-Poles. We took command of some beautifully painted 28mm miniatures.

The Austrians begin their advance on the Polish defended towns of Lossnig and Dolitz. This battle takes place Southwest of the town of Leipzig and the coalition is attempting an aggressive flanking maneuver.

The Polish hastily prepare a defense. These men of the Vistula Legion move up to protect a river crossing. They must hold out until French reinforcements arrive.

The Polish guns sight the white uniforms of the Habsburgs.

In the North, the Austrian infantry finally make it to the river. The Polish, though, put up fierce resistance.

Further down on the battlefield, the masses of Austrians storm ahead. The hordes begin to swarm the Poles.

A Austrians finally push out the Poles. The shattered battalion retreats down the street. Will they hold out long enough?

Right at the climax of the action, General Augereau arrived on the battlefield with his two fresh brigades of French reinforcements!

His columns march quickly to the aid of the poles. Their relief is greatly appreciated by the defenders.

A new French cannon pulls into position a pours devastating canister into the densely packed Austrian by the river.

The French take up positions in the town to repel the Austrians.

Both sides lock in a brutal stalemate. The French and Poles barely keep the Austrians at bay. This Hungarian line does not stop to rest and continually charges the town.

The Austrians are just making a foothold on the bridge. The Vistula Legion fires ferociously at the enemy, but cannot help suffering devastating casualties from Austrian volleys.

Just in time, the French lines advance to aid their Polish allies. The white-coats lose hope at the sight of the new reinforcements.

More of Augereau's men filter in to kick back the enemy. This unit marches in optimistically. The Austrians are wavering, and the French are anxious to distinguish themselves.

At last, the French horn of victory is blown. They win a decisive battle against the coalition that could change the tide of Leipzig as a whole.
This battle was a blast! Alastair and I had so much fun, and we give thanks to Tony for such an action-packed game. The miniatures were stunning and made the event such a fun and cinematic experience.
We agreed that this was one of our best games for the Schnepf Bros this weekend, and we are excited to come back in the Spring!
